Experience Punk Rock With Rise Against
The group Rise Against has already been making waves in the punk rock scene for more than a decade. The American band hails from Chicago, Illinois.
Past Story
It was the members of 88 Fingers Louie and Baxter that originally got together to create the group Transistor Revolt. It was Tim Mcllrath who took the lead on vocals while Toni Tintari handled the drums. Mr. Precision took on the guitar while Joe Principe tackled bass. The two also provided backup vocals. The group was able to independently release an EP demo with four tracks. It was called “Transistor Revolt.” It was after this that they were then able to ink a record deal.
Tony Tintari never moved on beyond the initial EP band work. He left and the band commissioned Dan Lumley to handle drums. Lumley left early too and was replaced by Brandon Barnes. Barnes is still with the group today playing in the same capacity.
A year later, the band signed with independent label Fat Wreck Chords. Prior to the release of their first album, the name of the band changed to Rise Against. “The Unraveling” was the name of their debut album released on April 2001. Mr. Precision left the band after the release and was replaced by Todd Mohney. Work began on their second album titled “Revolutions per Minute” which saw a release in 2003.
The following year, the band took on the challenge of going mainstream. Their first step was to sign up with Dreamworks Records. After this, they released “Siren Song of the Counter Culture” which was their third album. The band eventually moved on to Geffen Records when Dreamworks was taken in by the Universal Music Group.
More changes came in for the band after the label move. Todd Mohney left the group and was replaced by Chris Chasse. The guitarist only stayed until 2007 after the conclusion of work on the fourth Rise Against album. Zach Blair took on guitar duties for the fifth album and on further Rise Against video plans. He is still the current band guitarist.
Albums Out
“The Unraveling” is the debut album that was released in 2001 after “Transistor Revolt” changed name. All of the demo tracks in their early EP were rerecorded with Brandon Barnes in action as the drummer. It was reissued in 2005 where the tracks were remixed and remastered. Under the same Fat Wreck Chords label, “Revolutions per Minute” followed where it made it to number 15 of the 2003 Billboard Top Independent Albums.
The third album “Siren Song of the Counter Culture” came out when they signed up with the Dreamworks label. Of all the releases, it was this one that was regarded a big deal but got mixed reactions from listeners. The fourth album “The Sufferer the Witness” was more popular, selling more than 48,000 in just the first week. Music fans have been more critical of the following album “Appeal to Reason.” Nonetheless, it still took the number three spot and sold more than 64,000 copies.
Rise Against appears to be leaving the underground scene which resulted in mixed reactions amongst fans and critics. On the upside, their generally positive reception makes them prepared for playing in all parts of the world. Rise Against will record another album around fall of 2010 and they will also open up for Green Day to further increase interest for the Rise Against discography.

Furry Vengeance Premiere – New Stars And Old Favorites Come Out To The Furry Vengeance Premiere
Red carpet events are always fun to watch, and the Furry Vengeance premiere in L.A. definitely had its share of stars to look out for. The April 18th screening drew out some of Hollywood’s most popular rising stars in addition to several veteran actors. Brooke Shields and Brendan Fraser were both in attendance, in addition to co-stars Angela Kinsey and Skyler Samuels.
Brendan Fraser appeared to be excited about finally seeing his first major motion picture in two years, since his 2008 hit Inkheart. Fraser has based a large part of his career on family movies, such as The Mummy. Furry Vengeance, an Earth conscious film for the whole family, is no exception.
While making the film was a lot of fun for Brendan Fraser, putting on the necessary weight was a lot of work. Fraser needed a little extra padding on his backside to perform all of the physical comedy routines in the movie. Since shooting finished on the film, he says his passion for pizza has made it difficult to lose the weight.
Another popular actor who was out promoting Furry Vengeance was the beautiful Brooke Shields. Shields first came up on the film community’s radar when she starred in the classic film The Blue Lagoon at age fifteen. Now forty-five years old, she has enjoyed a wonderful career since then and was glowing on the red carpet.
Her film career has not been the only thing keeping Brooke Shields in the headlines over the years. In 2006, Shields made headlines when she published her book entitled Down Came The Rain, which focused on post-partum depression. The book was based on her personal experiences and struggles after giving birth to her daughter, Rowan.
The old favorites were not the only ones who made big appearances at the premiere for Furry Vengeance. Skyler Samuels was working the red carpet in support of her first big movie at just sixteen years of age. Although the grown ups may not know who she is, the kids will recognize her from several Disney Channel shows.
Another television actress who made her way to the big screen in this film is Angela Kinsey, best known for her role as Angela Martin on the hit sitcom The Office. Kinsey has appeared in several other television shows, including Monk and even a voice role on King of the Hill. In addition, she stars in many “webisodes” that coincide with her role on The Office.
The Furry Vengeance Premiere was the place to be to see everyone’s favorite stars, new and old. The eco-friendly themes in this movie make it something that the whole family can enjoy watching together. It is actually a great way to introduce the kids to environmental issues in fun and entertaining way. Furry Vengeance will be playing in theatres nationwide on April 30, 2010. Alan Jackson Star Ceremony – Alan Jackson Star Ceremony Pays Homage To Country Star
Alan Jackson did not need a star on Hollywood Boulevard to be distinguished as a pillar of the country music industry. However that is exactly what he got when the Alan Jackson star ceremony took place on April 18. Since first breaking onto the scene with his 1990 debut, Jackson has recorded thirteen albums, including Freight Train, which came out on March 30. His star on Hollywood Boulevard has secured his place in country music history.
Although it is a great honor to get a star on Hollywood Boulevard, this is not the first major award Alan Jackson has won. Over the years, he has taken home fourteen Academy Of Country Music Awards as well as twelve Country Music Association Awards. In 2002, he won the Best Country Song Grammy for his 9/11 tribute, “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning).”
Over the years, Alan Jackson has received many other awards and recognitions that are not honored with statues and stars. In addition to the many impressive awards he has won, he has sold 50-million albums and can boast thirty-four chart topping hits. He shows no signs of stopping at age fifty-one, with a brand new album and an upcoming tour.
Jackson is now part of an impressive group of stars from television, film and music who have had their name on a Hollywood Boulevard star. Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers are only three examples of country singers who have received the honor. The Walk Of Fame even includes a few beloved fictional stars, such as Lassie and Rin Tin Tin.
It may seem as though everyone who has ever graced the stage or screen has their name on Hollywood Boulevard, but they are not actually easy to get. There must be a campaign made by the companies that work with the star being considered. To be eligible, a performer is required to have spent a minimum of five years in the business and to have given back through charity work.
Although he does not usually flaunt his good deeds in the press, Alan Jackson is no stranger to charity work and repaying the community. He has been involved with the Red Cross as well as the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital. Most recently, he put on a concert to support the families of those involved with the Upper Big Branch mining incident.
After receiving his little piece of Hollywood Boulevard, Jackson played an intimate concert for some lucky fans at Hotel Café, a small club in Hollywood. Most of the audience members for the 21-song performance were winners of radio contests who traveled from different parts of the nation for the event. It is rare for Jackson to play such a small venue, especially one including his eight-piece group of musicians. Jewelry Stores Michigan Home Theater Installation indiana
The Alan Jackson Star Ceremony paid tribute to a wonderful musician and compassionate humanitarian, whose contributions have changed the face of country music. Alan Jackson’s career has had a positive impact in various capacities, from his music to his charitable efforts. His Walk Of Fame star guarantees that he will be remembered for years to come.
